The Supa Group story

Located in one of Melbourne’s established suburbs stands this classic 1930’s inter-war weatherboard home. Nestled among lush greenery and framed by a white picket fence, this home has an abundance of charm.
Not uncommon with 1930’s homes, the Georgian front porch ,with its white columns and cheery pink door welcomes you inside to the richness of Art Deco, its glamour on display throughout. From original cornices, geometric ceiling panels and picture rails, the homes’ appeal is undeniable.
Despite having previously been renovated and expanded at the rear with a new open plan kitchen, meals and living area, the new owners– busy parents with two young children found themselves needing more space.
The objective was clear. Clients wanted an extension that would respect and preserve the craftsmanship of their much-loved home but at the same time afford them a spacious and functional floorplan to satisfy their lifestyle needs for the now and future.

The beautiful staircase was strategically designed with intent to retain the majority of a bedroom which was converted to a multipurpose room.

Supa Group designed a first-floor addition that delivered a spacious, dedicated space for the children to call their own. Light-filled and generous in size, the new first floor features two bedrooms with BIR’s, sleek bathroom, linen cupboard with ample storage and a retreat where the children could read, play or simply chillout.
Furnished with soft textured travertine tiles, brushed gold fixtures and a feature wall adorned with glossy white mosaic tiles, the bathroom is stylishly modern.
Wide double hung windows were implemented in the bedrooms, gifting them with an abundance of natural light and externally matched existing, enhancing and complimenting the home’s character.
Art Deco details have been subtly incorporated into the design of the extension resulting in a cohesive blend between old and new. Fan shaped mosaic tiles, picture rails and hardwood floors, made the new addition look like it always belonged.

A real showstopper, the staircase was sculpted and designed with intent. Taking full advantage of the wide hallway and only sacrificing a small portion of the adjacent bedroom, the smart design produced an elegant bridge between floors. Textured walls and cornices were carefully replicated to make good.
Rewarded with additional space, clients had the old bedroom converted into a versatile multipurpose room, an inviting space perfect for work and comfort.
Externally, the new first floor was proportioned ,balanced and worked harmoniously with the original. For durability, modern materials such as James Hardie Scyon Axon cladding and Colorbond trims were used to ensure the longevity of the extension.
Sympathetic to the original architecture and with meticulous attention to detail, this newly extended house has all the elements in making it the perfect family home- space, charm, durability and great street appeal.
