Having previously been extended over 30 years ago, the outdated floorplan of this Edwardian home did not marry up with the needs of a modern family. The brief was to create a fluid and functional floorplan that focused on open spaces and natural light; but importantly, would be thoughtful to the homes much loved classic features.
Modern ground floor open plan extension with modifications to existing to create new ensuite and WIR
Nestled in a quiet leafy street of Brighton, this charming semi-detached Edwardian with its sloped fret verandah has now been beautifully transformed with a ground floor extension and renovation.
Retaining the original front four rooms, the rear was demolished, and a bespoke designed floorplan was introduced.
Flaunting a new timber ‘en Vogue’ walk-in-robe, and a luxurious private ensuite, the master bedroom became the quintessential master suite. Preserving a little bit of history, the old master bedroom cast iron fireplace was relocated to one of the daughter’s bedrooms and the original mantle retained.
In keeping with the style and décor of the ensuite is the main bathroom. From the soft hued porcelain tiles to the timber vanity and glossy white basins sitting perched on the stone benchtop, this bathroom is a study in modern luxury.
Moving effortlessly down the lofty hallway, old and new blends harmoniously. Simple in its architectural form, high pitched ceilings and square set cornices, the new relaxed open shared space welcomes you with an abundance of light and has great connectivity to the garden through large stacker doors.
Holding court to family gatherings and casual entertainment is the new modern kitchen. Built around an expansive island stone bench and surrounded by high quality cabinetry in a satin finish and chrome accessories, the hub of the home is now perfect.
Adjacent to the kitchen with direct access to outside is the laundry. Practical and efficient in design, this room offers plenty of bench space and ample storage, everything to meet the demands of a large family.
Timeless and with an inviting atmosphere, the front room decked in old world charm and eclectic vintage pieces is now a wonderful private refuge for parents to read, listen to music or watch a movie by the fireplace allowing the children to enjoy their own privacy and independence in the new living area.
With immense street appeal, this freshly painted Edwardian with its sparkling new Colorbond roof is now functional and full of character.
The build time from Demolition to Handover:
