The ground floor plan was transformed where the old living area and bathroom was repurposed into a master bedroom and private ensuite

Nestled on a corner block, near parklands, this charming two-bedroom weatherboard cottage was full of potential but bursting at the seams. A decade after completing a small extension and renovation, the family of four had outgrown the footprint. They loved their neighbourhood but lacked the space and modern comfort a growing family required.
Initially, the owners pursued a Knock-Down Rebuild. However, as they ventured quite far into the process, they found the skyrocketing costs of a new build were far greater than anticipated. After seeing a friend’s successful project, they turned to Supa Group to explore a more cost-effective alternative.
The brief was to provide the family with more space for their growing family but at the same time create a fluid and functional floorplan that would satisfy their needs and meet their budget.
Site constraints, access and council requirements, all were considered ensuring the final proposal ticked all the right boxes.
Given the compact subdivided corner block, a first-floor extension was the perfect solution, but the design had to adhere to front and side setback rules which posed some challenges in delivering a floorplan that would provide enough space for the family.
What resulted was a design that delivered on all fronts-space, functionality, compliance and budget. The new first floor dedicated to the young children featured two bedrooms, a main bathroom, a multipurpose living area to hang out and play and a soundproofed compact study room; all furnished with plush carpet for extra comfort.

Open and light filled, the ground floor was transformed. Our consultant focused on a design that would deliver a fluid and functional floorplan where no space was wasted. The original north facing living area was converted into the master bedroom with BIR and the adjacent bathroom became a private ensuite. Former bedrooms were repurposed into spacious shared living with new Blackbutt timber flooring that had great connectivity to the kitchen where the whole family could gather. Switching these areas also granted garden views from the new living area.
Undertaking a building project often presents unexpected challenges. In this instance, once works began on site, it became evident that the staircase design had not been made exactly to the client’s specification. Taking a proactive approach, Supa Group implemented a rebuild that resolved the issue without impacting the build quality, project timeline, or budget—much to the client's satisfaction.
From the outside, the house appeared to be an original two-storey build. It was aesthetically pleasing from every angle, featuring a passive roof design with integrated eaves and gables that complemented the architecture. Both efficient and stylish, the home was upgraded with double-glazed, powder-coated aluminium windows and a durable Colorbond corrugated roof to replace the old structure.
Beautifully proportioned and with the right amount of space and comfort, this home was just right.
