Professional small builder/renovator
Framed by a glorious maple tree, this 1910 period house with its high-pitched slate roof and leadlight windows was loved by the occupants. Unfortunately, with two children, they were rapidly outgrowing the old world charm.
The brief required a design that gave the family much needed space for their growing family that sensitively balanced modern and traditional elmements. No build is without its obstacles and it took a skillful design to work within the restrictions of a narrow block.
New open plan living, kitchen and dining on ground floor. New bedrooms and master ensuite on first floor.
A new ground floor design involved converting the old kitchen into a new walk in pantry and a powder room next to an open plan kitchen, dining, and living area. Special details include white Victorian ash French doors with highlight windows opening up to the Merbau decked undercover alfresco.
The existing first floor was extended further to create two spacious bedrooms for the family’s young children and parents were not overlooked with a new luxurious en suite for the master bedroom. The clever design also allowed for plenty of extra storage to improve the utility aspect of the residence.
Sensitive balancing of period charm and useful modern elements to create ideal family living.
Ground and upper floor extension to provide more space and luxury for the family to grow with.
Natural and tactile materials include flecked marble bench tops, herringbone tiling, Baltic pine floors, and Victorian ash casement windows.
All our extensions involve extensive design and planning to make sure you get your dream home. Learn about our process in detail.
